July 7, 2007 Final entry by David Henry PDF Print E-mail

As I write this, 43 members of the DR2007 team should be a few minutes away from landing at the Minneapolis airport.  They will then ride a bus back to Rochester for a much anticipated 2 am arrival at church.  Jennifer Hennes, Chet Ross and myself safely returned to Rochester at 9:15 pm.  We were on a different flight schedule than the rest of the team.  I will eagerly await the team’s arrival at church along with other family members and friends.

July 5, 2007 Entry by Amber Henry PDF Print E-mail

amber_henry_166Today was our second to last day working.  The VBS crew spent the morning in Majaguita (now known as Los Calabazos) while the construction crew worked in Majaguita, Boma, Jarabacoa, and the Mackey’s new home.  It’s tough for all of us as we try to wrap up everything and say goodbye for another two years.  Today was also my second day of staying back at camp.  I’ve been dealing with some sort of stomach flu bug, and after making the ride up to Majaguita for VBS decided I wasn’t quite up to a day at work. Ricardo, one of our guagua drivers, took the time to drive slowly and carefully (making sure there were barely any bumps) back down the mountain to camp.

Happy 4th of July!!  We are missing all of you back at home, especially tonight.  Although we were not able to celebrate the 4th like us Americans usually do, tonight we did do something to make up for it.
