The Next Step Process!

A monthly event that is the first step for our community of Teenagers. The event focus is fun with a climax of the Gospel presented either in conversations or from a speaker.

This is our weekly event that focuses on an application of the Bible to daily living in the life of a teenager. We focus on the 7 checkpoints of a growing Christian:
1. Authentic Faith
2. Spiritual Disciplines
3. Moral Boundaries
4. Healthy Friendships
5. Wise Choices
6. Ultimate Authority
7. Others First
By using this format we allow for a teenager to connect with peers through discussion, fellowship and activity as well as connect with God through worship and teaching.

This step includes two programs and is our Grow step.
We recognize that teens are very relational and one of our core values is relationships. Our Small Group program is where our students attend a group where they are nurtured and challenged to grow in their love for Jesus and spiritual disciplines. These groups meet consistently throughout the week in various homes. Each student would attend the same group at the same place lead by the same leader to build the relationship needed to effectively produce spiritual growth. Not all groups would meet at the same time due to the inconsistent schedule of teens today.
Our Sunday School Classes are an additional opportunity for our students to get biblical teaching and content. This meets on Sunday mornings and is taught classroom style. The format of electives vs. class by grade would be open for discussion as we focus on the students and the needs they may have.

Student Ministry Team

This step is the last of our steps and the goal is to get all students to this step. This is where the student finds how God has gifted them and then learns to serve others with those gifts. This team leads, plans and runs most of our Outreach Events as well as much of our Wednesday Youth Group. These students would also be planning projects for outside the church walls to serve in the community and care for the needs of others.
As a ministry we cannot meet all of the needs of the community around us but these needs would be addressed by the disciples that we bring up. Our calling is to go out into the world and make disciples. We need to keep that as our focus so we don’t create programs just to keep busy. We need to simplify our ministry to create disciples that are open to the calling of God on their lives.
This team has a certain level of commitment that goes along with it and each student on this team needs to commit to living by the standard asked of them.

If My Youth is Interested in Joining Your Group, How Would You Suggest I Get Him/Her to Do So?
We do our best to make visitors feel comfortable, but we also know that it can be challenging for a youth to enter a new group. If this is a struggle, we have found that our weekend events provide an excellent opportunity to build friendships, which makes coming to Wednesday JAM or FreeZone and Sunday School easier.

When Do the Groups Meet?
The following is our weekly schedule. Some events are only offered throughout the school year. During the summer months we have a more flexible schedule. To help keep up with activities, a calendar is published detailing the summer activities.

   All year round:
    Sunday School 9:00 - 10:15 a.m.
    -All classes meets upstairs in the youth room for the beginning of the time then split off into their grades.
   Throughout the School year:
    Sunday - Activate (Middle School) 6:30-8
    -Meets upstairs in the Youth Room
    Wednesday - High School 7:00 -8:30 p.m.
    -High School meets upstairs in the Youth Room
    Week Nights-Small Groups-6:00-7:00
    -Meets in homes.
