Resolving Personal Conflict PDF Print E-mail

Happy New Year!  I am excited about what 2007 will bring our direction in life and ministry.  I trust Christmas was a clear spiritual and personal reminder of the gift of God's Son Jesus Christ!

CONFLICT - the universal human experience.  This Sunday I begin a four week series on resolving personal conflict.   We all experience conflict in our marriages, as single people, in our relationships with our friends, our children, our parents, at school and at work.  Where there are human beings you can be assured there will be conflict.  God’s Word describes the primary sources of personal conflict and it gives us practical ways in which we can avoid conflict, as well as work our way through conflict to healthy resolution.

Using Matthew 18:15-20 as our guide for resolving conflict we will address the following subjects:

Jan.7 – Communication: Getting the story straight.  Joshua 22:10-34

Jan.14 – Diversity: Recognizing our differences.  1 Corinthians 12:12-31

Jan.21 – Money: Mastering our resources.   Genesis 13:1-12

Jan.28 – Self: Addressing “I, Me, My, Mine.”   James 4:1-2

Please pray for me as I prepare for preaching and teaching on this subject.  I would also love to hear from you regarding any issues, observations or insight you might have regarding interpersonal conflict.

Relationships are messy and at times painful. I'm finding it hardest to know where to draw boundaries - something I've never done. Of course, it's causing some misunderstanding with people I love dearly. It's also showing me the importance of boundaries in healthy relationships. I can't always say yes although I have for years because I thought yes equaled love and acceptance. It didn't. Now I need to learn to balance the boundary building...I don't want to distance myself completely...although when it hurts I'm tempted to head for the hills. Instead, I'll head for Calvary and learn how to handle these adversities.

You're in my prayers Todd. Thanks for tackling this topic.
