Your Leadership Board at Work
By Brad King, Chairman, Leadership Board
What words would you use to describe the past year at Calvary? Would it be transition, change, or a God-thing perhaps? All of these are true. This has been a time of transition, there has been a lot of change, and God is at work in our church. Something we as your Leadership Board are learning is our need to communicate better with you, the congregation, especially during times of change.
In our meetings recently, we have discussed how we can improve our communication and we have come up with several ideas that we are implementing this year. One of those ideas begins this month. In each publication of the Courier, on page 2, you will find this column entitled “Your Leadership Board at Work.” In the column we will communicate some of the topics we are discussing along with some of the recent decisions that have been made. For those who use the church web site, this same information will also be available on-line along with the names and contact information for each board member.

When you have questions, you’re always welcome to call us or stop and talk with us, but we have provided more ways you can communicate with us. In addition to the contact information on the web site , there will be a link which you can use to send any of us an e-mail directly from the site. Soon we will have comment cards available at the Information Center and we encourage you to use them to ask us questions or make comments. All we ask is that when you contact us; please include your name so that we can get back to you with our reply.
Looking ahead to what is in store for us as a church in 2007, here are some of the major initiatives we have planned. We desire to be more outwardly focused as a church and towards that end, CareFest 2007 is planned for June 16. Mark your calendar now and plan to be a part of this powerful community outreach event. Last year we met our goal of 500 participants from Calvary and this year we have set our goal for 600. CareNet is a new, ongoing, service opportunity with other local churches to the public schools. This is one of many ways we can have an ongoing godly influence in our community.
As a church, we also desire to remain inwardly strong and expand our strengths of worship and Bible teaching. A major initiative in this regard is the addition of a third worship service. We also have many new ministry teams forming in 2007, which include Stewardship, Outreach, Senior Adults, Young Adults, and Assimilation. These new initiatives provide more opportunities for ministry and service. Prayerfully consider where and how you can be involved both in fellowship with other believers and in reaching out to non-believers.
