Summer Sandals and the Savior PDF Print E-mail

Once again I begin by apologizing for not blogging more often.  Yes, same excuse --- tooooo busy!  Anyway, here is where I am headed with the preaching for the summer.

I have preapred a series (listed below) on the humanity of Christ.  What I mean by this is that Jesus was truly 100% God, but He was also 100% man while He walked here on earth.  With this in mind my goal is to encourage believers to walk in a deeper friendship with Jesus.  If He were walking on earth today, you and I would be able to relate to Him as we do any friend we have today.  I think often Christians see Jesus as a concept or theolgoical construct we relate to in our minds and not as a person we are in relationship with.

Join me on the journey into deeper friendship with the God of the universe, Jesus the God-Man in this series entitled: Summer, Sandals and the Savior.

Pastor Todd, This is try number two for me, so if the first comment arrived -great! We have been so blessed by the worship this summer. So often I've wanted to comment but couldn't quite put my thoughts into words. Today however, the Lord's leading was so evident that I felt compelled to let you know. Paul and I have been blessed by the direction God is taking with our church to make those differences in the lives of others and individually. We have been totally unprepared by the outpouring of love and support as we prepare for out little mini mission trip to Africa to visit our daughter. Oasis has been so caring and giving in helping meet some of the needs of her village and school. We hope to be a blessing to her church and community and also salt and light especially with some of her fellow peace corps volunteers. We eagerly read their blogs and can see the Savior's hand in leading some of them to a relationship with him. It would be wonderful to be a part in that journey for some of these dear young people. You have mentioned more than once that ministry is messy. Life is messy for most of us at least at times and yet God is not hindered in the least by those messes. The tone of ministry that we see being set at Calvary is so exciting and successful. What a joy to be a part of God's plan of healing and growth. My experience has been that the most precious times of fellowhsip with the Lord and others has come from honestly sharing these messy and sometimes seemingly hopeless situations. The Lord loves to work in so called hopeless situations. Today was just another beautiful example of the body of Christ doing what he intends. We will keep you and our dear church in our prayers over the next few weeks as we are gone. Blessings, Nancy & Paul Pedersen
