When we finalized the plans for bring 46 people to the DR
the single largest concern I had was getting all the people and 138 pieces of
luggage from Rochester
to the camp in Jarabacoa. We gave that
concern to the Lord and trusted him. Was
he ever faithful which shouldn’t come as a surprise but it is certainly fun to
watch how things worked through for the day.
Here is the quick list of how God provided:
- We
left church 10 minutes early (when do church trips start early).
- We
were dropped off a long ways from the ticket counters and had to move all
the luggage down one level, get it on a tram to bring us to main terminal
where we had to then move all the luggage up 2 levels and organize
everyone with their luggage. It
went amazingly smooth
- We
were getting pressed for time but where able to get everyone tickets and
bags checked in less than 1 hour.
- We got
through security with minimal wait.
I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes and others had similar wait
times.
- Everyone
was at the gate with plenty of time to get food, drinks and those other
matters of concern when you’re going to be locked in a plane for a few
hours.
- Moving
a large group of people through an airport from one gate to another could
have been an experience but the Lord had us depart for the DR from the
same gate that we arrived in Miami
at. This gate was no busy and we
had plenty of room to spread out for our 5 hour layover. It worked out fantastic.
- We got
to the DR and we had Amber Henry tell the Visa desk that we were all
missionaries and they waved all of our $10.00 entrance fees. $430.00 of the Lord’s money saved.
- We got
through customs the fastest that I have seen. No problems.
- Everyone
got their luggage. Nothing lost or
delayed. Just a couple of crushed
Pringles cans.
- Everyone
breezed through the luggage check at the final customs check.
- Our
leaders where there to meet us with trucks and trailers for all the
luggage.
- We had
a safe uneventful trip up the mountain to camp.
Cool huh! As I look
back on the day, it is so neat to see how everything worked out in the best way
possible. Thank you all for the
prayers. We have plenty of
transportation while we here so the logistics of getting people around looks
like it is going to be ok also. Continue
to pray for health of the team member, travel safety in this traffic crazy
country, the hearts of those we will be meeting, ask for the translators to
have an extra special sense of God’s presence as the communicate with the
Dominican’s and safety on the work sites
for all.
Thank you all for your persistence in praying for this trip
and for all the support you have given.
We hope to have a blog written each day by a different team
member. We will get them posted on the
web site as often as we can get clear internet service.
Thanks again
Roger
