Apples of Gold Mentoring Program   The Spring 2008 session has come to a close.  If you are interested in being a part of this  great program in the future, please contact Ellen Swanson at (507) 753-2147.  Training will be provided for mentors.....Come get connected and start some new relationships and enjoy sharing life together.

If you feel that God is leading you to become involved, please contact Ellen Swanson and specify if you would like to be a mentor or mentee and also an email address and/or telephone number where we can reach you. We will again be seeking both mentors and mentees who would like to become involved, so if you feel that you want to be blessed and be a blessing to others, come and join us in the Apples of Gold Bible Study. It is only for six short weeks, but we feel the blessings will last into eternity.

Apples of Gold is a bite-size piece of time whereby women can commit and give and receive mentoring as a group. Hopefully, natural relationships will develop and more one on one time can then proceed from the group and continue after the study is over.

Titus 2:3-5 says: "Bid the older women likewise to be referent in behavior, not to be slanderers, or slaves to drink. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, chaste, domestic, kind and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be discredited (RSV)"

Six lessons come from this passage which are taught through the Apples of Gold book:
  • 1. Kindness
  • 2. Loving Your Husband
  • 3. Loving Your Children
  • 4. Submission
  • 5. Purity
  • 6. Hospitality
The time is spent as follows:
  • First Hour - Preparing a meal together(probably different ones than are in the book)
  • Second Hour - Lesson around the table
  • Third Hour - Table talk
Logistical Information:

Groups of 6 to 8 will be put together based on the individual's scheduling needs (half mentors - half mentees) - daytime and evening groups - childcare issues will be worked out as needed. Guess what - if you are between 35 to 45 - you can go both ways!

A training time for Mentors will be provided prior to the first gathering.
