We are now eighteen strong...

At 11:00 p.m. last night, our remaining eight team members (Larry, Mary, Jared, Kamaria, and Zach Goedhart, Stephanie and Sarah Mullins, and Jaime Gardner) joined us at the Yellow House, making our team complete. They arrived energetic, and despite a short night rose this morning ready to get to work.
Today’s sites once again included Mr. Mike’s house, with painting and cleaning, and the Quad, with painting and plumbing and drywall work. While at the Quad , our team members worked closely with the group of women from Hershey, PA, (with Jamie even painting from waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy up on the ladder on the second story of the house). Two new sites were added today, with our crew helping out the men from Maple Grove, MN, moving furniture at the Rev. Boyd’s house, and another group removing flood-damaged carpet from Miss Bertha’s house. (The Quad, the Boyd house, and Miss Bertha’s house were all within about a block of each other.)
Work ended early, at 3:00, so that everyone was able to get ready for Wednesday evening service at Trinity EFC in Covington, LA. (The trip to Trinity ended up taking two hours, or about an extra forty-five minutes, because of an accident on the causeway.) They had saved plenty of food for our group, and after eating, singing, and praying, we listened to Mark Lewis, director of the EFCA Crisis Response Ministry (Touch Global) describe the ministry’s focus and plans. Mark stressed that, “God creates a new mission field in the wake of every crisis.” He also hopes that teams learn things here to take back home to use there.
Today’s rain didn’t seem to put a damper on anyone’s spirits, and since most of the work to be done was inside, it didn’t have a major effect on projects either. There is still so much work to do, and it is sad that we probably won’t be here long enough to see anything actually reach completion.
Please pray that we can remain healthy, and that we can continue to “Rise, Shine, and Give God the Glory!”
