Hola from the DR!!! Today was another beautiful day: a bright blue and cloudless sky, a hot sun, and a nice cool breeze.

As with every day, this fifth one was full of exciting events. The day began at 6am, as many people started getting up and ready for the day, followed by devotions until breakfast. At 7:50 we all gathered outside to pray for the day, and then squish into the van and truck. At Iglesia Nueva Vida the group split up as some stayed for construction and others went on a trip to the gorgeous village of Boma.

It is such an amazing trip from Jarabacoa to that little village up in the mountains. Words cannot begin to describe the scenes along the road, nor can they explain the beauty. The things that come to mind are stunning, God is great, and Jurassic Park. You have to come here to see it and truly appreciate the beauty of the mountains across the rocky and boulder filled river, driving through a river, and the short bits of forest with mountains on one side and a river on the other. Rick, Becky, Patty, Caleb, Angela, Tom, the Mackey’s son Ben, and our new friend Luisa, went there in the pickup for a Bible study, where Patty and Angela shared their testimonies.

Construction went well today. Three out of six concrete pillars for a gazebo were poured, a water leak in the piping fixed, plumbing put in working (and non-sewage leaking) order. The roof  has been prepared for concrete tomorrow, and the bathroom on the second floor had some piping redone.

In the afternoon Maggie, Angela, Anna, and Ashley went to a women’s Bible study in La Hoya.

In the end, we were all (or most of us) glad to arrive back at camp, four on motorcycles and the rest piled up in a small pickup. Thank you Lord for such a wonderful day, for allowing some of us to see the incredible beauty with which You have bestowed this country.

Keep praying for the group, that we all remain healthy and strong, and continue to serve Christ with a song on our lips and hope in our hearts. Please pray also for construction tomorrow, that the Lord help us and give us the strength to make it through yet another day of hard work.

God bless you all!

Adios!
