Greetings from the Dominican Republic!

It is my turn to bring you up to date. Today was a construction day. We were able to finish the slab for the Sunday school gazebo. Hopefully you will get to see some pictures of how we mix the concrete. We make a pile of sand, gravel, and cement on the ground, add water then mix and mix and mix. And then we mix it some more. In the afternoon, we went on a prayer walk, although due to heavy rain it began a prayer ride. We prayed for the city, some of the local missionaries, and people in the community that are getting to know God.

What am I learning on this trip? I am being reminded to always ask myself, am I praying about it?  Bill Hybels book, Too Busy Not to Pray, talks about how our self reliance causes us to tell God about things but then go try to solve them on our own. The people here, and now me, pray about everything. It really reminds you how close God is and the power of prayer. My second learning, is one of Becky’s favorite sayings, is my problem bigger or is my God bigger? And obviously my God is always bigger. But my favorite thing about this trip is being able to share it with my daughter. If you ever get a chance to go on a trip like this I would challenge you to do it with someone you love.

Thanks for listening. May your mind, like mine and our teams, be focused on things that will matter for eternity. Thanks for all the prayers for the team.  We think of you all often.
