grace_upon_grace

The theme for 2010-2011 is Grace Upon Grace (Rejoicing in God's abundant grace in our lives...). This theme is taken from John 1:16, For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.

Grace is being gifted with good that is undeserved. Scripture tells us that when we approach God through Jesus Christ we draw near to His throne of grace where we receive mercy and find grace in our times of need (Hebrews 4:16). We are overwhelmed with awe of the grace that the Lord has poured out to us. It is by God's amazing grace that we have been saved, through faith. We are humbled by the grace that the Lord continues to pour out on us. The Lord longs to be gracious to us (Isaiah 30:18). May each woman understand the mercy and grace our Lord daily lavishes on each of us. We pray that each woman will feel accepted, loved, and encouraged to grow deeper in her walk with the Lord and with one another at Coffee & Friends this year.

God's grace is rich, deep, and completely one-sided. He is the Giver; we are the recipient. We look forward to a year of thinking on the graciousness of God together. We have special studies planned this year that fit right in with our church's Paths of Discipleship. Come join us Thursday mornings during the school year in our mission to build up one another in our walk with Christ through prayer, Bible study, encouragement, and fellowship. - Connie and June Ann

Coffee & Friends is an umbrella for several women's Bible studies that meet on Thursdays from 9:15-11:30 a.m., Sept 16 - May, in keeping with the public school year calendar. We begin with large-group worship and sharing time and then break up into small group Bible studies. We welcome women of all ages, stages, and denominations.  Childcare is available for a suggested nominal fee. (But, we don't want anyone to not come if the cost is prohibitive. Just come anyway and the costs will be covered!)

Contact June Ann Fry, 258-2067 or Connie Weiss, 356-4313 with questions.

Here and Now...There and Then

By Beth Moore

This is an 11-session lecture series on the book of Revelation. Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. She teaches that God is as specific about what He does reveal as He is about what He does not reveal.

Acts: Keys to the Establishment and Expansion of the First Century Church

Acts: Keys to the Establishment and Expansion of the First Century Church" is the first course in the Antioch School (Track 4 of Paths of Discipleship). This course is part of a series of ministry courses designed to help a person develop a biblical philosophy of ministry and the skills required to put that philosophy into practice. Its role is to expose the student to the principles that laid the foundation of the Early Church and helped it carry out the Great Commission. This is one of three courses which, together, lay the foundation necessary for a clear understanding of the mission of the church and the proper functioning of the church and home as a part of the fulfillment of that mission.

*This course is intended for leadership development and for serious students of the Word. Participation will require prior approval.

Leader: Vicki Tiede.

Raise Up a Child & Portrait of a Biblical Marriage

Raise up a Child - is a family event that will take you on an exciting journey of parenting by God's design. During this course, you will learn how to follow God's "GPS" as it helps you navigate through the pitfalls and perils of raising children. Prepare to be guided back to the heart of parenting through four easy to remember, easy to apply principles.

Portrait of a Biblical Marriage

God designed marriage to be between a man and a woman, for better, for worse, for life. A marriage is a relationship, a partnership, a companionship, designed and created by God. But marriages are not without problems. God wants the partnership of your marriage to be the solution to your problems. In A Biblical Portrait of Marriage, Dr. Bruce Wilkinson outlines six partnership principles and six problem-solving strategies—enough to move any marriage from bland to grand!

Leaders: Gwen Carlson & Bekah DuMond

The New Eve

By Robert Lewis

Christian womanhood is not about recapturing a 1950s model of femininity or being a "Biblical Barbie." The New Eve (by the author of Men’s Fraternity) gives 21st century women a clear plan for living out a bold faith that's just as unique and meaningful as they are.

and

Plug Me In and Let Me Charge Overnight

By Vicki Tiede

In Knowing God by Name author, Mary Kassian focuses on 35 Hebrew names of God that describe His character, His relationships, and His purpose. As you learn the significance of each ancient word, you’ll be awestruck by the Lord’s magnificence and your heart will be compelled to worship and praise Him.

Most women, at one time or another, feel like the demands of life have sucked the spiritual and emotional enthusiasm right out of them. They approach their relationships, ministries, and daily responsibilities with about as much pizzazz as cold oatmeal. In Plug Me In and Let Me Charge Overnight, women are challenged to be fueled by their relationship with Jesus, so they can eagerly embrace their purpose and place in life with holy enthusiasm.
