Taking a Moral Stand

Telling the Story

  1. Joseph is sold into slavery. (37:36, 39:1)
  2. God blesses Joseph even in slavery. (39:2-6)
  3. Joseph's promotion brings new temptations. (39:7-9)
  4. Temptation comes knocking every day. (39:10)
  5. Wounded pride lashes back. (39:11-18)
  6. Joseph is unjustly punished. (39:19-20)
  7. The Lord is still with Joseph in prison. (39:21-23)

Transforming Truth

  1. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  2. God is with us even when things are very difficult.
  3. (Matthew 28:19-20; Hebrews 13:5; Isaiah 43:1-5a)
  4. God is able to redeem difficult circumstances.
  5. We will need to take a moral stand for purity in this evil world.
  6. Biblical warnings about our world:
  7. Proverbs 5:3-8; Titus 2:11-14; Ephesians 6:11
  8. Taking a moral stand in an evil world will be costly.

Application

  1. Practice God's presence in all circumstances.
  2. Decide what hill you will die on, and stand your ground.
  3. Prepare mentally for the cost of taking a stand.
  4. Protect sexual purity. Invest in keeping yourself and your family pure.
